For five days every year in November, the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer Hall is given over to the equestrian world. The Stuttgart German Masters is the definitive riding and show jumping event, and has been staged every year since 1985. Dates in 2009: 18 to 22 November.
During Advent, around 280 decorated stands transform the Stuttgart Inner City into one of Europe's biggest and most beautiful Christmas Markets. The Marktplatz, Schillerplatz and Schlossplatz, as well as Hirschstraße and Kirchstraße are all given over to spreading some welcome pre-Christmas spirit with festive lighting.
