Research institutes

Stuttgart is one of the strongest research locations in Germany and the centre for research and development in Baden-Württemberg. Forty-five per cent of the county's research and development capacity is concentrated here. The State Capital also assumes a leading position within the European Union: With its distinct international alignment it belongs to Europe's most innovative high-tech regions.

Numerous internationally operating companies are based in Stuttgart and safeguard the region's prosperity with their reputation, their multi-faceted commitments and highly innovative powers. They invest more than 13 million Euro daily in research and development - more than anywhere else in Germany.

To stay up to date these companies use their proximity to the excellent local scientific facilities and work closely together with them. In addition to the colleges, it is also the diverse array of external university research facilities which are of particular importance in the innovative and creative network of the scientific centre Stuttgart.

Information about the individual research institutions in the State Capital can be found under the respective links.
