The study courses at the universities in Stuttgart can be completed with different academic degrees and examinations. The qualification is frequently fixed by the choice of subject and/or the university.
Owing to the Bologna Process the number of Bachelor and Master courses in Germany continues to increase. With a few exceptions, the diploma and graduate programmes should be completely replaced by 2010. Intermediate or preliminary examinations do not constitute a degree in Germany.
