If you take the "Zacke", Stuttgart's rack railroad, to Santiago de Chile Square, you can enjoy the view on the way. There is even more to see on the square itself. The panoramic view extends over the city center to the Europaviertel behind the main train station and, on a clear day, far beyond. An orientation board at the edge of the viewing platform points out the individual sights in the field of vision.
The square was originally called "Auf dem Haigst". In October 2006, however, it was renamed "Santiago de Chile Square". In keeping with the name of the square, three sculptures represent the South American country: the large Moai sculpture from Easter Island, a memorial stone made of stone from the Maipo Valley and a bust of the Chilean Nobel Prize winner Gabriela Mistral.
Incidentally, there is also a counterpart to Stuttgart's Santiago de Chile Square in Chile: three sculptures of the Stuttgart horse can be found in the "Plaza Stuttgart" in Santiago de Chile.
