The Round Table on Agriculture offers Stuttgart farmers the opportunity to present their concerns directly to the city administration. At this annual dialog, which is chaired by the Lord Mayor, current topics and problems faced by farmers are discussed and constructive solutions are developed.

In order to increase the proportion of organic farms, the state government is promoting regional management in 14 organic model regions. The  organic model region Ludwigsburg-Stuttgart (opens in a new tab) covers the area of the district Ludwigsburg and the state capital Stuttgart. The goals of the organic model region Ludwigsburg-Stuttgart are:

• the improved networking of organic farmers,
• the promotion of the dialogue between producers and consumers and
• to increase the production and sales of regionally produced organic food - especially in out-of-home catering.

Fresh fruit, crunchy vegetables and colorful flowers - weekly markets have a special flair and are an opportunity to buy products from the region. From Tuesday to Saturday, a total of around 210 vendors offer their diverse, fresh produce at  32 markets throughout the city (opens in a new tab).

During the annual state campaign " Transparent Production (opens in a new tab)", which takes place between May and November, consumers have the opportunity to learn about regional food production and processing on farms. With a variety of activities such as guided tours, round trips and tastings, the participating farms offer a varied program for the whole family.

Orchard meadows are not only one of the most species-rich habitats in Baden-Württemberg. They are also the basis for regionally produced cider. The Interessengemeinschaft  Schwäbischer Cider e.V (opens in a new tab). was founded in 2019 with the support of the city's economic development agency in order to increase awareness of local cider and actively support regional and artisanal businesses in product placement.

The City of Stuttgart offers agricultural businesses, including winegrowers, which are based in Stuttgart and market their food products directly via a permanent farm store or wine store, the opportunity to apply for signs indicating their point of sale on the public highway.

The size and design of the signs are specified. Suitable locations are selected in consultation with the Civil Engineering Department and then commissioned by the AWS at the applicant's expense. A maximum of two to three locations can be granted per farm.

The aim of this measure is to support agricultural businesses in primary production, including viticulture, in marketing their products. As a rule, private destinations are not signposted.
