Stuttgart is among the most important industrial bases for the aerospace industry in Europe. Around 80 percent of aerospace engineers in Germany are trained at the University of Stuttgart. Comprising twelve institutes, the Aero-space Faculty at the University of Stuttgart is the largest in Europe.

With 1,500 students studying aerospace and 200 geodesy students, the area can offer a huge pool of skilled engineers. Eighty percent of all research institutes in the State of Baden-Württemberg are based in Stuttgart, the State capital. These include several institutes of the German Aerospace Center and the materials testing institute of the University of Stuttgart.

Some of the world''s leading aerospace companies and important suppliers have a presence here. These include Tesat-Spacecom, Fichtner, Thales ATM, innovative navigation, Bosch and Behr Industry.

Right at the centre of all these activities, the State Capital of Stuttgart is providing a Centre for Aerospace Technology as an excellent platform where new businesses in the industry can start up.
