What does a night buoy offer?
There are situations in which people feel uncomfortable or unsafe at night because they have been harassed or attacked, for example. This can happen on the way from club to club or on the way home. At this moment, an open door and support is helpful.
As a Night Buoy, you help others in concrete ways by
- welcoming anyone in need and giving them a place to retreat,
-
offering practical support such as a glass of water, a place to sit or the use of the toilet. It may also be that the cell phone battery has run out and you call the person a cab on request or recharge the cell phone.
- if necessary, you refer the person to advice centers that cooperate with the Nachtboje. If required, you can call first aid or the police for the person seeking help.
The service is free of charge and is not compulsory.
The position of a night buoy
By participating in the “Nachtboje” project of the state capital Stuttgart, you are advocating attentive and respectful coexistence at night. Anyone who needs support at night can find a temporary retreat with you - regardless of their origin, religion and world view, gender, sexual orientation and identity, age or abilities.
