Family support

There are various specialized  counseling services for expectant parents, families and young people in Stuttgart. The field of action  Early Support focuses specifically on the counseling of expectant parents and parents with children up to the age of three.

The  Early Inter vention Center offers special counseling services for single mothers and fathers in Stuttgart. In this way, new parents are specifically supported and strengthened.

There are many  meeting places in Stuttgart’s districts, such as several district houses, family centers and meeting places for older citizens. Youth welfare planning takes care of the development and expansion of cross-generational meeting places in Stuttgart.

Family education or parent education is a preventative offer of child and youth welfare (§16 SGB VIII) and is aimed at parents and educators. With its offers and topics, family education strengthens parents in their role as parents and in their parenting skills. Family education programs for parents in various life situations take place throughout the city and at different locations.

The state program STÄRKE is a family education program, financed by the state of Baden-Württemberg and aims to strengthen children and improve their development opportunities by STRENGTHENING parental skills, especially parenting skills. The state program STÄRKE contains two components:

STÄRKE Open Meetings.
No registration is required to attend an Open Meeting. Just drop in and get to know other parents and you will see that it feels good to exchange ideas. For example, concrete everyday family situations, parenting topics and information about the child’s development can be discussed. Sometimes a joint breakfast is offered at the Open Meeting; this is indicated in the brochure. The open meetings are accompanied by pedagogical specialists.

The STÄRKE Open Meetings take place in the district and family centers in Stuttgart and are free of charge.

STÄRKE courses for parents in special life situations
Some life situations present you as parents with special questions. Therefore, we offer tailor-made courses for different life situations. In the STÄRKE brochure, you will find courses tailored to the following situations:

Families in special life situations are:

• Families with one parent under the age of 18
• Families who have experienced violence
• Families with a family member who is ill, disabled or at risk of becoming ill or disabled
• Families with multiple births
• Families with foster or adopted children
• Families in difficult financial circumstances
• Families coping with an accident or the death of a family member
• Families in separation and divorce as well as patchwork families
  Single parents

 Early prevention coordinates relief and support for parents and children from the beginning of pregnancy and in the first years of life. Early intervention makes a significant contribution to the healthy upbringing of children and ensures their rights to protection, support and participation.
