Advisory Board for Stuttgart City Forest

The city forest in Stuttgart is a popular local recreation area. To give citizens a say in the development of the forest, the city council established the Advisory Council for the Stuttgart City Forest in 2019. Representatives of the administration, politics and citizens sit on the advisory board.

This is how idyllic it should remain in the city forest: The forest advisory council helps to take the various interests into account.

For the city and its population, the urban forest is of outstanding importance. The forest advisory board therefore discusses strategies regarding recreation, ecology, wood utilization and the forest as a place of learning. The aim is to work out a common vision that takes into account the various interest groups in and around the forest. Due to the close interaction between the forest, settlement areas and infrastructure, special challenges arise in forest management.

In the first full term of office from 2019 to 2023, the monitoring of the entire development process of the forest management (“forest strategy”) for the term 2023 to 2032 is an important topic. In addition, the advisory board will discuss the further development of informal citizen participation in forest issues and the use of the forest as a place of learning and recreation. In the future, the forest advisory council will serve as an expert advisor to the municipal council and others.

The Advisory Board meets three times a year, including two meetings and one forest tour. All meetings of the Advisory Board for the Stuttgart City Forest are open to the public.

The next meeting is scheduled for the following date:

October 20, 2025
