The United Nations is many countries.
The countries make policy together.
The English word for United Nations is: United Nations.
The abbreviation for United Nations is: UN.
The United Nations wrote the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons withDisabilities.
The abbreviation for it is: UN CRPD (opens in a new tab).
The UN CRPD is a kind of treaty.
In the treaty are the rights of people with disabilities.
And in the treaty are the goals
for the inclusion of people with disabilities.
And for more accessibility.
All countries must adhere to the treaty.
The city of Stuttgart wants to achieve the goals for inclusion
and accessibility.
The city has already done a lot for this in recent years.
The measures for inclusion and barrier-freedom
have been written down by the city of Stuttgart in the Focus Action Plan.
Stuttgart should be inclusive and barrier-free.
That is good for all citizens.
Social rights in Europe
Europe should be inclusive.
To achieve this, the European Union has come up with social rights.
The European Union is a group of 27 countries in Europe.
The countries work together a lot.
For example, they make laws together.
The abbreviation for European Unionis: EU.
All people in the EU should have these social rights.
The social rights consist of 20 principles.
Principle 17: Inclusion of people with disabilities
The city of Stuttgart would especially like to further develop principle 17
from the social rights of the EU.
Principle 17 stands for the inclusion of people with disabilities.
Stuttgart was the first city in Europe to promise:
We will promote the inclusion of people with disabilities.
This was decided by the municipal council of the state capital Stuttgart
decided on December 3, 2015.
In Stuttgart live about 45 thousand people
with a severe disability live in Stuttgart.
We want to continue working on this in the coming years:
All people can use everyday offers as well as possible.
Regardless of whether they have a disability or not.
It should be normal:
All people should be able to live and learn together.
And all people should be able to live and work together.
No one should be excluded.
This also makes people happier.
Advisory Board for People with Disabilities
The state capital Stuttgart has an advisory council
for people with disabilities.
The advisory board advocates:
People with disabilities have the same rights.
And they have the same opportunities.
The advisory board consists of 16 residents from Stuttgart.
These 16 people all have different disabilities.
Together with city councillors they work on:
People with disabilities can live well in Stuttgart.
The mayor Dr. Alexandra Sußmann is chairwoman of the advisory board.
The representative for people with disabilities Simone Fischer
also works closely with the advisory council.
And she advises the advisory board.
The Stuttgart Focus Action Plan
Stuttgart wants to implement the UN CRPD.
To this end, we developed the Focus Action Plan in 2014 and 2015.
There were 8 working groups.
In the 8 working groups, citizens
with and without disabilities worked together.
And experts from the disability aid.
And politicians and employees from the city administration.
The working groups have thought about measures:
This is how the everyday life of people with disabilities can be improved.
And how we can promote participation in society.
We have written down the measures in the focus action plan.
The city of Stuttgart is working on this:
These measures are being implemented.
The Advisory Council for People with Disabilities (opens in a new tab) accompanies the implementation.
The focus action plan is also to be revised again.
All interested people should be able to participate.
This is difficult because of the Corona situation.
We are still checking:
How can many people participate in the Focus Action Plan?
We have made a film about "Stuttgart inclusive".

Then a new internet page will open.
The film is not in easy language.
