Volunteer integration work

Whether new immigrants or refugees: Integration needs commitment. The state capital Stuttgart offers volunteer opportunities to help with integration - so that everyone who lives here also feels at home.

Voluntary welcome mentors in Stuttgart

Become a volunteer WillkommensPate

Thousands of people in Stuttgart are committed to making integration a success. The spectrum ranges from donations of money and goods to involvement in one of the circles of friends for refugees and various programs relating to education, health, sport and culture.

Welcome mentors provide practical and emotional support to new immigrants and their families: they accompany them to government offices and look through letters and documents, help them practise their German, support them in their job search and in the application process. The content, duration and locations of the support are determined by the new residents together with the WelcomePatrons. We prepare the WelcomeSponsors for their work and support them.

Children with disabilities: migrant parents help migrant parents

Parents of children with disabilities face special challenges: Does my child need special support? Which kindergarten and which school is suitable for my child? How can I find counseling centers and authorities that can help me?

To ensure that migrant parents in Stuttgart are not alone in dealing with such questions, the  Parents' Foundation Baden-Württemberg (opens in a new tab), in cooperation with the city's Integration Policy Department and the Stuttgart State Education Authority, has launched the "Migrant Parents Help Migrant Parents" project. The migrants working there are themselves parents of children with disabilities and, with the support of the Parents' Foundation, provide advice to others who are affected.
