Parking in Stuttgart

Top 10 parking violations

Some people ignore the parking regulations out of convenience. However, parking illegally can be expensive. Warnings and fines can amount to up to 100 euros. In some cases, the car may also be towed away and you may even get points in Flensburg. But what are the biggest parking offenses? An overview.

1. parking in the fire protection zone

In the event of an emergency, vehicles parked here in violation of traffic regulations can hinder firefighters during firefighting and rescue operations. The drivers of the cars also accept personal injury as a result. Vehicles can therefore be towed away even if they only partially protrude into the designated area and without there already being an obstruction.

Warning or fine: 55-100 euros

2. parking in a disabled parking space

This special parking space is only available to people who have a corresponding disabled person's pass. These people are dependent on the spaces as they are in a central location and are also wider to enable wheelchair users to get out more easily, for example. It is important to protect those entitled here. For this reason, immediate towing is also possible without an obstacle.

3. parking at charging stations for electric vehicles

E-charging stations are also the focus of regular traffic checks. This is because parking at charging points for electric vehicles is only permitted during the charging process. The charging process should also be unhindered. Immediate towing of unauthorized cars is therefore also possible without obstruction.

4. parking in the absolute stopping ban

Parking in an absolute no-parking zone can also be towed away immediately. Anyone who parks here is obstructing stationary and moving traffic. As the name suggests, this also includes short-term stops of less than three minutes.

7. parking in the intersection area

When cars are parked in the crossing area, it is considerably more difficult or impossible for pedestrians to cross, especially those with wheelchairs or walking frames. And for children in particular, visibility is severely impaired. They are also noticed later, which ultimately poses an accident risk that should not be underestimated. This is why towing may be required in the event of an obstruction.

8. parking on sidewalks

Unless expressly ordered, parking on sidewalks is prohibited regardless of the width of the sidewalk. This also includes partial parking on the sidewalk. In addition, parking here often encourages further parking violations. The vehicle may be towed away and, depending on the offense, you may also receive a point in Flensburg.

9. parking on narrow streets

Roads must have a minimum width of 3.05 meters to allow unhindered passage. If the carriageway is narrower, emergency vehicles, for example, cannot reach the scene of an emergency or the AWS vehicles cannot carry out their task. Both are ultimately at the expense of the general public. The vehicle may be towed away and you may also receive a point in Flensburg.

Note: The  traffic control department of the city of Stuttgart is generally responsible for carrying out towing measures throughout the city. In contrast to privately commissioned towing, towing by the authorities is only ever carried out if you have parked your car incorrectly in public traffic areas.

In addition, the above-mentioned warnings and fines apply. Amounts between 5 and 55 euros are referred to as a warning fine. From 60 euros it is a fine. If you pay a warning fine, you can avoid the initiation of fine proceedings and thus additional costs.
