Fire department

The professional fire department and the volunteer fire departments of Stuttgart make a considerable contribution to the protection of the inhabitants. They are called into action in the event of fires and public emergencies caused by accidents, collapses or natural events.

In addition to the professional fire department, there are also numerous volunteer firefighters in Stuttgart.

The Stuttgart Fire Department is a department of the state capital Stuttgart. The  Stuttgart Fire Department (opens in a new tab) includes five permanently manned fire stations of the professional fire department. In addition, there are 24 departments of the volunteer fire departments that are not permanently manned.

In order to be able to reach the emergency locations throughout the city quickly, the Stuttgart professional fire department has divided up responsibility for the individual districts.
