Issuing certificates of eligibility

Anyone standing as an individual or party candidate for an election must submit a certificate of eligibility to the relevant electoral authority. As a rule, the parties have the forms ready; individual candidates should contact the district electoral officer (in Stuttgart, the Statistical Office is the office of the district electoral officer). Certificates of eligibility for candidates who live in Stuttgart are issued exclusively by the Statistical Office. This service is not offered in the citizens' offices. Certificates are issued free of charge for parliamentary and municipal council elections. The state capital Stuttgart only charges an administrative fee of 32 euros for issuing a certificate of eligibility for (senior) mayoral elections in Baden-Württemberg.
