Apply for instruction in accordance with the Infection Protection Act

For example, you will come into contact with the following foods in the course of your work :

• Meat, poultry meat and products thereof
• Milk and milk-based products
• Fish, crustaceans or molluscs and products thereof
• Egg products
• Infant and young child food
• Ice cream and ice cream semi-products
• Bakery products
• Delicatessen, raw vegetables and potato salads
• Sprouts and germ buds

Coming into contact means direct contact with the hand or contact via objects such as crockery or cutlery. Or you work in kitchens of restaurants, canteens, cafés or other facilities with or for communal catering.

Registration for online instruction

The initial instruction in accordance with Section 43 IfSG is an  online instruction (opens in a new tab) (film and questions).
After the instruction, you will receive the certificate as a pdf in your mailbox. The certificate belongs to the instructed person.
Participation is free of charge for volunteers and interns.

Registration for face-to-face instruction (only for volunteers without access to the internet)

Face-to-face instruction is possible if you

• are a volunteer and do not have access to the internet,
• live in Suttgart,
• have registered in advance by telephone or e-mail. We need your first and last name, your date of birth and your telephone number.

Please note: Registration for the face-to-face event is mandatory, as there are only limited places available. On the day of the instruction, please arrive 10 minutes before the appointment in front of the building at Deckerstraße 35 in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt. You will be picked up there. Please allow approx. 1.5 hours for the duration of the event.

We can offer you the following dates in 2025:

• 04.06.2025, 10 a.m.
• 25.09.2025, 10 a.m.
• 24.11.2025, 10 a.m.

Non-German speaking participants

The online course is offered in several languages: Arabic, Bulgarian, German, English, French, Italian, Farsi, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Spanish and Turkish. If you do not understand any of the languages offered, please complete the online instruction accompanied by an interpreter.

Citizens who do not understand German should bring an interpreter with them to the face-to-face training for volunteers.

Certified copy of the certificate of initial instruction

If you have been instructed for the first time at the Stuttgart Public Health Department, a copy of the certificate of initial instruction in accordance with § 43 of the Infection Protection Act can be issued to you by the Stuttgart Public Health Department for a fee of 12.00 euros. Please note that this is only possible if the date of your initial instruction in Stuttgart in presence was within the last 10 years.

Identity card or passport.

You may not start activities in the field of food preparation, food sales or catering until you have the certificate. This certificate must not be older than three months when you first start working.

Your employer must additionally instruct you about the activity prohibitions and the obligation after you start your activity and every two years thereafter. The certificate and the last documentation of the instruction must be kept by the employer.
