Monument protection - Apply for a monument protection permit

Do you want to carry out measures on a cultural monument that could interfere with its substance or impair its appearance? This must be approved by the relevant monument protection authority. This applies in principle and regardless of whether or not you require planning permission for your project.

If you wish to carry out construction work that requires approval under building regulations, simply submit an application for planning permission to the Building Law Office of the City of Stuttgart. The building law authority will involve the monument protection authority as part of the approval process. In all other cases, the application must be submitted to the Office for Urban Planning and Housing, Lower Monument Protection Authority.

Contact the responsible office in good time. They will tell you which documents you need for your approval procedure.

You may only start construction work once you have the building permit. This also applies in cases where you do not require planning permission.
