The insurance office helps with:
- Questions about the start of your pension and how to apply
- Questions on clarification of insurance periods
- Questions about rehabilitation measures and other support services
- Applications for old-age pension and reduced earning capacity pension
- Applications for survivors' pensions
All necessary forms are available at the insurance office. With a few exceptions, applications are recorded online and forwarded directly to the relevant insurance provider. The insured person receives a written confirmation of this.

Prerequisites
The statutory pension insurance does not pay pensions automatically. In order to receive the pension, those entitled must take action themselves and submit an application to the insurance office, the pension office in their district town hall or the pension insurance provider.
Procedure
The necessary applications are submitted together with the insured person. You can make an appointment with your pension office either by telephone or by e-mail. This is also possible online for the insurance office in the city center. You can choose whether the appointment should take place on site or as a video consultation.

Required documents
All pension insurance certificates should be submitted, i.e. the last pension statement received. The following must also be submitted with the application
- a valid identity card or passport
- the IBAN
- Health insurance card or proof of private health insurance
- the tax identification number
- Birth certificate of a child due to long-term care insurance
- Name and reference number of any company pension, pension
- Proof of foreign pension entitlements
- if applicable, an existing certificate of severe disability
For applications for survivors' pensions, please also bring along
- the death certificate and marriage certificate, as well as the birth certificate of children entitled to an orphan's pension.
In the case of reduced earning capacity pensions, please include
- all treating doctors with exact address and telephone number and inpatient hospital stays.
Depending on the circumstances, further documents may be required.
Deadlines
Deadlines are already stated in the notifications to insured persons.
- Old-age pensions should be applied for three months before the desired pension start date. If the application is submitted late, the pension may only be paid from the month of application.
- Survivors' pensions should be applied for within one year of the insured person's death.
