Apply for basic benefits for old age and reduced earning capacity

People who are permanently disabled or have reached the age limit for the start of their pension can receive basic benefits. Basic benefits in old age and in the event of reduced earning capacity ensure the necessary subsistence. This includes, in particular, the costs of food, housing and heating, individual additional needs and needs in special situations.

In principle, the following are entitled to benefits:

  • Persons who have reached the age limit relevant for the start of the pension or are permanently fully incapacitated for work.
  • Their income or joint income with their spouse or partner is below the statutory basic income support requirement.
  • Whose realizable assets are below the statutory minimum assets.

Proceedings in connection with social benefits are free of charge.
