Apply for care assistance

If you are in need of care and cannot bear the costs of your care yourself - even with the support of long-term care insurance - you may be entitled to "care assistance".

When can you apply for care assistance?

  • You are eligible for this benefit if you are financially needy and:
  • are not insured under social long-term care insurance (statutory or private),
  • your need for care is expected to last less than six months and you therefore do not receive any long-term care insurance benefits, or
  • the long-term care insurance benefits are not sufficient as they are limited in amount.
  • What benefits does long-term care assistance cover?

Care assistance can include the following benefits, among others:

  • home care
  • care aids
  • care allowance
  • partial inpatient care
  • short-term care
  • Measures to improve the living environment
  • Inpatient care (e.g. in a nursing home)
  • Digital care applications

This support is designed to ensure that you receive the care you need even if you are financially dependent.
