Apply for a senior citizen annual ticket (DeutschlandTicket) when you return your driving license

Participation is open to persons with their main residence in the city of Stuttgart who are entitled to purchase a senior citizen's travel pass according to the VVS community tariff:

• Persons aged 65 and over
• Persons over the age of 60 who receive a pension from the statutory pension insurance, a pension from a public-law employment relationship or a pension from a professional pension fund upon presentation of a pension certificate.

Both existing VVS customers and new VVS customers can participate.

Interested parties will receive a special subscription order form for a senior citizen's annual ticket and the waiver of the driver's license from the driver's license office of the city of Stuttgart.

The driver's license office accepts the waiver and the driver's license and forwards the order form to Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG - AboCenter to record the subscription order form. It is not possible to apply at the Bürgerbüro.

By submitting the waiver, the applicant voluntarily surrenders his or her driving authorization for all classes to the driver's license authority. This means that the driver's license will expire and the driver's license will be confiscated or cancelled at the express request of the applicant.

Important: If you are already a subscription customer, you must cancel your existing subscription by the end of the contract year.

The following documents must be submitted by mail or in person to the Driver's License Office of the City of Stuttgart:

• the signed waiver
• the completed order form (personal data, number of the current polygoCard if applicable, bank details, signature)
• a copy of your pension certificate or pension notice
• a photo (not required for SSB subscription customers; no biometric photo required)
• your original driver's license (the cancelled driver's license can be returned to you upon request)
• a copy of your identity card or passport

Provided the order form is received by the 10th of the month, the Senior Citizen Annual Season Ticket begins on the 1st of the following month.

The term of this promotion (acceptance of applications) initially ends on 31.12.2025. The last possible start of the contract for the Senior Annual Ticket (Deutschlandticket) is therefore 01.11.2025. Applications for this must be submitted by 10.10.2025 at the latest.

The processing time depends on the date of receipt of the application. Provided the order form is received by the 10th of the month, the SeniorenJahresabo begins on the 1st of the following month.

The notice of termination must be received by the AboCenter of Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG (Postfach 80 10 06, 70510 Stuttgart) with one month's notice(online or in writing) to the end of the 12-month period. Otherwise, the term of the paid subscription begins immediately after the end of the free 12-month period. This can also be canceled at any time with one month's notice to the end of the month in accordance with the applicable fare conditions. By joining the promotion, the applicant becomes an SSB season ticket customer.
