Lord Mayor Dr. Frank Nopper presented Andrea Grieb and Carmen Kohr with the badge of honour for their outstanding voluntary commitment to inclusion at the citizens' reception on 22 October 2025. The badge of honor, which the Lord Mayor has awarded every year since 1998 at the citizens' reception in the town hall, is the highest award for voluntary work in the state capital of Stuttgart. In May 2025, the municipal council decided to award the plaque to the two volunteers.
Andrea Grieb received the award for her many years of commitment to the Inclusion Advisory Board and as a tour guide for people with and without disabilities in Stuttgart. Carmen Kohr was honored for her outstanding commitment to the Körperbehinderten-Verein Stuttgart. Both honorees are also members of the advisory board for people with disabilities in the state capital of Stuttgart.

Andrea Grieb was awarded the badge of honor of the state capital of Stuttgart for her extraordinary commitment to the success of inclusion. Mayor Nopper said: "Andrea Grieb exemplifies what inclusion means: having a say, helping to shape it and being there for others with heart and passion. Her commitment builds bridges - between people with and without disabilities."
Mayor Nopper also presented Carmen Kohr with the badge of honor from the state capital of Stuttgart for her tireless commitment to the community: "Carmen Kohr's ability to understand people who cannot express themselves with words is particularly impressive. As a trained educator, she has a keen sense for others, listens, observes and communicates - and thus ensures that every voice is heard."
Volunteering for years
Andrea Grieb has been an active member of the Inclusion - Together for One Another advisory board for 15 years. She enriches the advisory board with her knowledge and provides important impetus for the participation and inclusion of people with disabilities in the community. From 2007 to 2010, she trained as a tour guide in Stuttgart as part of the Caritas "Blickwechsel" project. Since then, she has been guiding people with and without disabilities through Stuttgart on a voluntary basis. In doing so, she makes an important contribution to ensuring that people with and without disabilities treat each other with respect and empathy. Andrea Grieb has also been a member of the advisory board for people with disabilities in the state capital of Stuttgart since 2024.
Carmen Kohr was Chairwoman of the Alex Club Board from 2001 to 2019. The Alex Club is the youth organization of the Körperbehinderten-Verein Stuttgart and a meeting place for children, teenagers and young adults with and without disabilities. Carmen Kohr represented the interests of the youth on the board of the Körperbehinderten-Verein. As a trained educator, she helped shape the cultural and leisure program on a voluntary basis. Her focus was on accessibility. Carmen Kohr has been a member of the advisory board for people with disabilities in the state capital of Stuttgart since 2015. Together with the 17 members, she is committed to ensuring that everyone can participate in life in urban society with equal rights and self-determination.
