Your tasks on election Sunday

On election day, you will work at a polling station in Stuttgart or at the postal vote count. As a member of an election committee, you will ensure that the election runs smoothly. Your tasks include, for example

  • issuing the ballot papers
  • informing eligible voters about the number of votes to be cast in each election
  • checking the eligibility of voters to vote
  • counting and announcing the election results

This voluntary honorary office must be exercised impartially, e.g. no sign of political conviction may be visibly worn during the activity. There is also a duty of confidentiality.

Framework

  • Working hours at the polling station: Either early shift (7:30 am to 1:00 pm and 5:45 pm until the end of the count)
until the end of the count) or late shift (12:45 until the end of the count). The election supervisor is responsible for assigning the shifts.
  • Deployment for postal vote counting: From 14:00 until the end of the count.
The count takes place in the vicinity of the polling stations.
  • Compensation for voluntary work: For your work as an election assistant, you will receive an expense allowance of 13 euros per hour, up to a maximum of 104 euros per day for the 2026 state election. As an election supervisor, you are also entitled to separate compensation for attending training and inspecting the polling station.
