The image of the family has always been subject to change. While the nuclear family was the ideal of the 20th century, today we encounter a colorful variety of family forms. In addition to father-mother-child(ren), single-parent families and patchwork families in a wide variety of forms are part of our everyday lives.
In recent years, the term "rainbow family" has been added to describe the diversity of parenthood. But what does it mean to live as a rainbow family? What special features and challenges arise for this type of family - and for their environment such as schools, daycare centers or colleagues?
