Domestic violence

Violence in home care

Similar to domestic violence in marriage, partnership and family, violence in home care takes place in the closest social environment. The forms of expression range from financial exploitation and neglect to psychological, verbal or physical violence. The causes are also diverse.

Home care means:
A person needs support and help.
This is the care.
And the person still lives in their own home.
Then this person gets the care at home.

Violence

Violence can have different forms.
For example, there is physical violence.
This includes hitting and kicking, for example.
And there is psychological violence.
This is called psüch isch.
It involves hurting a person's feelings.
This includes, for example, threats and insults.

But violence can also be:
Not taking good care of a person.
It is also called neglecting a person.

Or taking financial advantage of a person.
This means taking money from the person over and over again.

The reasons for violence can be very different.

The violence can also happen at home.
For example, in the family and in marriage.
Then one knows the perpetrator very well.
But the violence can also happen in the home care.

Dependency

A person receives care at home.
For example, by their own family.
Then there is no control.
There is no control:
Is the person treated well when receiving care.
This can have bad consequences.

Often it is not recognized:
This is where violence happens in home care.
Fewer victims seek help.
Maybe they can't get help themselves.
Or they are dependent on the caregiver.

This means:
They absolutely need the help from the caregiver.
That is why they do not dare to say:
The caregiver treats me badly.

Counseling and help is also important for the caregiver.
Because they can also be the victim of violence.

Or maybe they are overwhelmed with the care.
And therefore use violence.

Injustice between men and women
A person needs care.
And the family wants to take care of the person.
Then usually a woman from the family does the care.
She gives up her career and salary for that.
Because of this, she may be worse off in old age.
For example, she may get less pension in her old age.
Or she may not find a job afterwards.
And the situation can put a lot of stress on her.
