How long am I entitled to parental allowance?
Parental allowance can be drawn from birth and is paid according to months of life. There are different types of parental allowance:
- Basic parental allowance
- Parental allowance plus
- Partnership bonus
You can only receive basic parental allowance in the first 14 months of life. After that, ElterngeldPlus or Partnerschaftsbonus are still possible - but with some restrictions.
You can obtain legal advice on the topics of parental allowance and parental leave directly from L-Bank. We can offer you information on the basic principles and the framework conditions for your independent individual planning. No advance calculations are made by either the L-Bank or us. The parental allowance calculator on the website of the federal family portal also helps with planning.
How much is the parental allowance?
The amount of the parental allowance depends on many questions. For example, which variant you choose, how much income you have had so far, whether you have multiples or already have small children. Depending on your income, the basic parental allowance is between 300 euros and 1800 euros. Even if you have had no income up to now, you will receive the minimum amount. As a basic parental allowance, you will otherwise normally receive 65 percent of the net income you had before the birth and which ceases to exist after the birth.
You can calculate how much your parental allowance will be without obligation using the parental allowance calculator on the Family Portal website (opens in a new tab).
