Self-employed

The following stages are important in order to become professionally successful with self-employment. Your personal contact person at the Center for the Self-Employed will help you to overcome these hurdles.

• Reflection on the business idea: Is your idea viable and do you have the right skills for successful implementation? First, the principles of your idea are discussed with you. You will receive a realistic analysis and assessment of your plan.
• Planning of the business: The office for self-employed persons accompanies you step by step in the preparation of your business plan and the planning of your business. In this way, you will develop a viable business concept.
• Know-how for the start-up: With an extensive range of further education and training courses, the specialist office offers you the opportunity to start your self-employment in the best possible condition. For example, you can acquire basic commercial knowledge or the necessary knowledge of marketing or tax law. We can also put you in touch with the right people to answer important questions about insurance.
• Starting up your own business: With the support of the partners of the specialized office, you can determine the amount of start-up capital you need and work out a financing plan. You will also receive help in finding commercial premises.
• Start-up money and material support: The aim is to provide you with the necessary support to become self-employed as quickly as possible and to shorten or end your period of unemployment benefit II. With this in mind, you will also receive advice on possible subsidies, such as the "Einstiegsgeld" or a subsidy for materials.
• Post-establishment consulting: To ensure that your self-employment is a success, the specialized office for self-employed persons and its network will continue to support you even after you have established your business. With the help of various partners, you can learn to control the financing of your business on your own and keep track of the cost-benefit analysis. In addition, you have the opportunity to have your business operations assessed by a knowledgeable professional and to adjust processes if necessary.

The aim is for start-ups supported by the job center to become independent of basic welfare benefits within two years. For applicants with an existing business or self-employment, the goal is to become independent of transfer payments again within twelve months.

You must provide the job center with all relevant data and information about your business or self-employment when you submit your application. The job center is obligated to comply with state data protection laws and must, of course, use and store the documents properly. If you have to submit your business documents to other offices (e.g. tax office) at the same time, the Jobcenter will generally accept copies of your business documents. In individual cases, however, you may be required to submit the original documents. Personal data that is not relevant to the work of the job center (such as customer data) can, of course, be redacted by you.

The Jobcenter Stuttgart currently also accepts application documents from the Federal Employment Agency with the exception of the KAS attachment. Instead of the annex KAS, please use the annex EKS of the Jobcenter Stuttgart. You will find this for download in the  cash benefits section. Please also note our instructions for completing the EKS annex.

A separate annex EKS must be completed and submitted, otherwise a claim for benefits and the amount of benefits cannot be checked by the specialist department. An economic evaluation, as it is prepared for the tax office, does not reflect the actual circumstances under social law.
