Programs at a glance
kitafit
The kitafit program is aimed at all daycare centers in Stuttgart, regardless of their sponsor. Together with sports clubs and many other partners such as dance schools or psychomotor specialists, the daycare center's daily routine is designed to be varied, full of movement and fun.
kitafit cooperations
During the daycare year from September to July, sports clubs conduct an exercise session once a week. It takes place in the daycare center's exercise room or in a nearby sports hall. The exercise session is led by exercise instructors from the sports club. They are supported by a pedagogical specialist. The exercise sessions are a lot of fun for the children and also promote their motor, cognitive, linguistic, personal and social development.
In the winter months, daycare centers with "Kindi auf Kufen" have the opportunity to go ice skating together with Stuttgart ice sports clubs four times a season at Eiswelt Stuttgart Eiswelt Stuttgart.
STB Specialist for movement education
The qualification as a specialist for movement education is a joint project of the Office for Sport and Movement, the Youth Welfare Office and the Swabian Gymnastics Association. Every year, the qualification offensive trains twenty pedagogical specialists in the subject area of "movement and motor skills promotion". Following the year-long training, the participants can take the examination course for children's gymnastics instructors at the sports school.
Kitanzt
Kitanzt is a very special highlight in the daycare year. Dance educators develop choreographies that can be accessed online. At the daycare center, the teachers rehearse the dances together with the children. During the Easter vacations, all the daycare centers present their dances at a big final performance. Parents, grandparents, friends and siblings can watch and applaud the young dancers.
StN daycare games
Every year, the Stuttgart Sports District Youth, together with the Office for Sport and Exercise and the Stuttgarter Nachrichten, organizes the Kita Games. In 2019, around 700 children from 70 daycare centers took part in this sporting competition. The daycare teams compete against each other at various movement stations that they know from the movement passport.
kitafit specialist day on exercise
Movement is fun for children and is of great importance for motor, cognitive and social development, especially at pre-school age.
With a keynote speech and practical workshops, the free kitafit specialist day on movement offers the ideal platform for educators to find out about new scientific findings, gather easy-to-implement movement ideas for everyday daycare, network with various cooperation partners from the fields of health and movement and try out innovative play and sports equipment.
Children's sports - more exercise for the little ones
Sport makes children fit and promotes health - children learn for life through sport. They make friends, discover their strengths, develop healthy self-confidence and hone their team spirit. With the minisport program, the state capital of Stuttgart enables children to get to know the wide range of activities offered by local sports clubs. This is based on the conviction that broadly developed motor skills are an important foundation for the physical and mental development of children.
On the Stuttgart bewegt sich! website (opens in a new tab), parents can find an overview of the sports and exercise activities available for their children in the city. Offers from sports clubs for children up to the age of six are listed.
schwimmfit in Stuttgart - Learn to swim safely
Schwimmfit (opens in a new tab) helps children in Stuttgart to improve their swimming skills and supports educational professionals in the implementation of swimming courses. Whether in a mineral, indoor or outdoor pool - being able to swim is not only a question of safety, but above all fun!
Stuttgart Movement Passport
The Stuttgart Physical Activity Passport was developed to support daycare centers and sports clubs in promoting physical activity. It accompanies children between the ages of three and six. The aim of the movement passport is also to make movement part of everyday family life. Eight animals teach different exercises in a way that is suitable for children, each of which increases in difficulty to four levels. Short videos (opens in a new tab)show how to perform the exercise units correctly and what to pay particular attention to. The movement passport supports pedagogical specialists, exercise leaders and parents in promoting children's motor skills and in observing, accompanying and assessing their development in a differentiated manner. By collecting kite stickers for successful exercises, children can document the areas in which their strengths lie and the skills that need further development.
The movement pass is available free of charge at participating daycare centers and sports clubs, at the school enrollment examination at the Stuttgart Health Department or at the Office for Sports and Exercise.

The prerequisite for this is certification, which can be obtained by teachers, sports specialists, exercise instructors, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, for example, as a one-day training course or online.
