Stuttgart "Woodpecker Trail" downhill route

On the Stuttgart downhill trail, downhillers and mountain bikers can practice their sport on a legal route. The "Woodpecker Trail" near Stuttgart-Degerloch overcomes a height difference of 120 meters, has 27 different obstacles and is around one kilometer long.

Confidence in the material and a portion of fearlessness are the basic requirements to succeed in downhill.

The facility in the Dornhaldenwald nature reserve has been in existence since 2015. The project was supported by AG Downhill Stuttgart, which has campaigned for years for the construction of a legal downhill track in Stuttgart. The Woodpecker Trail was realized by the city of Stuttgart with an investment of 175,000 euros. The city's Office for Sports and Exercise is responsible for the operation as well as the regular testing and maintenance of the trail.
