Quarter C1 Carriage Halls

The area around the Wagenhallen is part of the future Stuttgart Rosenstein district. The so-called Maker City is being built in sub-area C1. The urban development project is an IBA'27 project.

In keeping with the cultural character of the site today, a productive urban quarter is to be created here in the future
with new ecological and social forms of housing as well as urban production and urban gardening. This program is intended to create a lively and diverse quarter.

Targets

  • The Maker City is intended to be an urban laboratory: a place for joint development, invention and production.
  • The buildings should be modular, flexible, innovative and open to experimentation.
  • The Maker City should integrate climate and nature: a laboratory for the compatibility of dense urban development, alternative economies and ecology.
  • A place of community: an urban quarter that offers space to realize creative and innovative ideas of living and working in communities.
  • Synergies are to be created between the opera's interim venue and the existing cultural uses.
