Nature Conservation

Municipal Nature Conservation Fund

The city's Nature Conservation Fund was established back in the late 1980s with the aim of preserving and promoting the natural environment and natural resources in Stuttgart.

The municipal nature conservation fund provides financial support to associations and private individuals for nature conservation projects, for example. The state capital of Stuttgart has been using this fund since the 1980s:

  • Measures for the conservation and development of habitats for native flora and fauna
  • Species protection measures
  • Measures to safeguard Stuttgart's cultural landscapes and
  • Public relations work on the subject of nature conservation in Stuttgart

Budget funds are made available for the municipal nature conservation fund. Citizens and organizations can submit an application to the City of Stuttgart to receive grants for nature conservation measures as a voluntary service. The Office for Environmental Protection decides which specific measures are eligible for funding in principle. You can find out which other criteria must be met for funding in the funding guidelines in the download area.

The application must be submitted in writing or by e-mail to the address of the  Nature Conservation Fund. All necessary documents can be downloaded here.

Annex 1.1 to the application (owner's consent) is to be completed only if the measure is permanent, such as dry stone walls, hedges or fruit tree plantations; Annex 2b (de minimis declaration) only by companies operating in the agricultural sector.
