Subsidized rental apartments

Rental apartments for seniors

If your strength is waning, but you still want to live independently, an assisted senior rental apartment can provide you with the security and assistance you need. Depending on your needs, you can receive both housekeeping and nursing assistance in these apartments.

Assisted living apartments for seniors are an alternative to a retirement home or nursing home. People can get help in the household there.

Through assisted living, the tenant retains his privacy and can decide for himself whether he wants to use the available common rooms and the range of services and benefits, as well as participate in community activities. Assisted living for seniors has thus become an attractive alternative to the familiar retirement and nursing home.

The city has the right of occupancy to around 700 assisted senior rental apartments, which are rented out at favorable rents of six to nine euros per square meter thanks to subsidies from the federal government, the state and the city. However, there is an additional care fee of around 110 euros per month for one person.

Requirements

In order to move into a subsidized senior rental apartment, the prospective tenant first applies for a  certificate of eligibility and registers in the city's housing registry.
