Application for a permit according to § 11 paragraph 1 Animal Protection Act

The keeping and handling of animals is subject to special animal protection regulations. The General Administrative Regulation on the Animal Welfare Act contains detailed regulations on the granting of permits. In addition, in Baden-Württemberg, the law on participation rights and the right of recognized animal protection organizations to take legal action (TierSchMVG) must be observed. Who

  • Keep animals in an animal shelter or similar facility,
  • Keep animals in a zoological garden or other facility where animals are kept and displayed,
  • bring or import vertebrate animals other than farm animals into the country for the purpose of giving them away for a fee or other consideration, or arrange for the giving away of such animals that are to be or have been brought into the country for a fee or other consideration,
  • train dogs for third parties for protection purposes or maintain facilities for this purpose,
  • conduct animal exchanges for the purpose of exchange or sale of animals by third parties,
  • breed or keep vertebrate animals on a commercial basis, with the exception of farm animals and game,
  • trade in vertebrate animals on a commercial basis,
  • commercially maintain a riding or driving operation,
  • professionally exhibiting animals or making them available for such purposes,
  • combating vertebrates as pests on a commercial basis, or
  • train dogs for third parties on a commercial basis or instruct the training of dogs by the owner of the animal

requires the permission of the competent authority.
