The loss of a registration certificate Part II or avehicle registration document isreported tothe Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (Federal Motor Transport Authority) by theregistrationauthorityand is published in the Verkehrsblatt (German Transport Gazette). You can onlypickup the new registration documents after the deadline has expired. Duration of the procedure approx. 3 weeks.
When a replacement registration certificate Part II (vehicle registration document) is issued, a registration certificate Part I (opens in a new tab) (replacement vehicle registration document) must also be issued, as the number of the registration certificate Part II (vehicle registration document) must also be entered in the registration certificate Part I (vehicle registration document).
A replacement registration certificate Part II (replacement vehicle registration document) remains valid even if the original registration certificate Part II or a vehicle registration document issued before 1.10.2005 under previous law is recovered. The vehicle registration document that has been presented to the authorities will be returned invalidated.
