Fishing license for young people (youth fishing license)

• You are between 7 and 16 years old.
• You have your main place of residence in Stuttgart.
• Your parents or your legal guardians/guardians declare their consent in writing that you should be issued with a youth fishing license.

No proof of expertise is required for the issue of a youth fishing license.

With a youth fishing license, you may only fish under the supervision of a person of legal age who holds a valid fishing license. The youth fishing license is valid until the end of the year in which you turn 16.

Children and young people can also take the fishing test before the age of 16. They then have the opportunity to obtain a fishing license for life and may also fish without the supervision of an adult companion.

Fishing license
The fishing license is issued for life. The fishing tax can be paid for a period of one, five or ten years.

The issue of a fishing license for life is dependent on you having passed the fishing examination. By submitting the examination certificate, you prove that you have acquired sufficient knowledge in the subject areas of fish knowledge, water science, protection and maintenance of fishing waters, fish management and relevant legal regulations, in particular fishing and water law, animal protection and animal disease law.

The lifetime fishing license is only valid if the fishing tax has been paid. Proof that you have paid the fee is the payment note in the fishing license.

• You are at least 10 years old (for young people under the age of 18, the written consent of your parents or legal guardian is required).
• You have your main place of residence in Stuttgart.

Exemption from the certificate requirement
Persons who acquired an annual fishing license or an annual fishing license for children and young people in the years 1976 to 1980 are exempt from providing proof of expertise for an unlimited period of time. They can be issued a fishing license for life without proof of expertise.

You can apply for a fishing license in person during our opening hours. Alternatively, you can submit the application by post, by e-mail or via Service-BW. In these cases, the fishing license will be sent to you by post together with the notification of fees after final processing.

Fishing licenses can be extended by post by enclosing the original fishing license. You will receive the original fishing license back by post after renewal together with a notification of fees.

• completed and signed application form

• certificate of competence (fishing examination certificate)

First issue of fishing license for 10 years (32-21)

Cost: 155 Euro

Further information: The costs consist of the administrative fee and a fishing tax of EUR 12.00 per year. The fee is waived for youth fishing licenses.

First issue of fishing license for 5 years (32-21)

Holidaymakers from abroad can obtain a so-called tourist fishing license without a certificate of competence if they do not stay longer than four weeks in the federal territory.
