Apply for a driver's license - from 17 years

You have the possibility to participate in road traffic already at the age of 17.

The application can be made six months before reaching the minimum age - i.e. from the age of 16.5. After successfully passing the driving test, you will receive a permit for the requested class B or BE (passenger car).

To do this, you must submit an application for accompanied driving from the age of 17 for class B or BE. Your parents, single parent or legal guardian must agree to your application in writing. If custody has been transferred to one parent or another person, this must be proven (for example, by a decision of the family court or similar).

After passing the driving test, you will receive an examination certificate at the driver's license office, which serves as proof of the right to drive in Germany. The accompanying persons are named in the examination certificate. The accompanying person should be available to you as a contact person in order to give you confidence when driving.
