Apply for a Heilpraktiker license - limited to the field of psychotherapy

• Minimum age 25 years
• Main residence in Stuttgart or suitable proof that the profession of non-medical practitioner will be practiced in Stuttgart after passing the examination signed rental contract for practice rooms, confirmation from a practice owner of acceptance of the applicant after passing the examination or similar)
• at least a secondary school diploma
• no serious criminal or moral misconduct
• health suitability

The Office of Public Order checks the formal admission requirements. If these are met, the documents are forwarded to the public health department. The invitation to the examination is then sent from there. Further fees are due for the examination.

• informal written application with which you apply for admission as a non-medical practitioner,
• Declaration of any previous applications for alternative practitioners in Germany (see forms)
• Signed curriculum vitae (in tabular form)
• School leaving certificate (at least secondary school leaving certificate) as a certified copy or submission of the original to us for certification
• Copy of identity card or passport
• Simple police clearance certificate for submission to an authority, document type 0 (will be sent directly to us and must be applied for at your local citizens' office). Please state our address above and the reference number, GZ: 32-21.3/Heilpraktikererlaubnis
• Declaration as to whether criminal proceedings or a public prosecutor's investigation are pending against the applicant. (see forms)
• Health certificate
  You have the option of having the health certificate issued by a general practitioner. The certificate must state that it is intended for submission to the Office for Public Order. It must state that you are mentally and physically fit to practise as a non-medical practitioner.
• Declaration of professional practice for non-graduate psychologists (see forms)

Please note that only originals or certified copies can be accepted. If necessary, the AföO will also certify a copy on presentation of the original.
Please note that the certificate of good conduct and the health certificate must not be older than 3 months on the day of the application deadline.

Application deadline for the March exam is January 15 each year, for the October exam August 15 each year.

Alternative practitioner - license fee (32-21)

Costs: 300 Euro

Heilpraktiker - Fee if application is rejected (32-21)

Costs: 300 Euro

Legal basis: §§ 3, 11 Landesgebührengesetz

Heilpraktiker - Fee for failure to attend the knowledge check (32-21)

Costs: 59 euros

Special regulation: The fee is charged by the public order office for the health authority (internal billing)

Heilpraktiker - fee for withdrawal of the application (32-21)

Costs: 220 Euro

Legal basis: §§ 4, 11 State Fees Act

Further information: The fee for withdrawal of the application is due as soon as processing of the application documents has begun at the Office of Public Order and the application is subsequently withdrawn. The start of processing is the receipt of the documents, whether these have been received in full or only in part is irrelevant.

Heilpraktiker - fee for an oral examination of knowledge, limited to the field of psychotherapy (32-21)

Costs: 696 euros

Special regulation: The fee is charged by the public order office for the health authority (internal billing)

Heilpraktiker - fee for a written knowledge test, limited to the field of psychotherapy (32-21)

Costs: 232 euros

Special regulation: The fee is charged by the Office for Public Order on behalf of the public health department (internal billing)

Please note:
It is not possible to postpone the examination. If this date is not kept, the application will be rejected and a fee will be charged.
