Anyone wishing to practise medicine without being a doctor requires a license. The practice of medicine within the meaning of the Heilpraktikergesetz is any professional or commercial activity to diagnose, cure or alleviate illness, suffering or physical injury in humans, even if it is carried out in the service of others. You must submit the application informally to the Office for Public Order.
Note: A decision on the application will be made by the Office for Public Order after you have passed a knowledge test at the public health department (written and oral). For information on the procedure and content of the written and oral knowledge test, please refer to the information sheet from the public health department.
