General exemption regulation for Sundays and public holidays open for sale
On the occasion of local festivals, markets, trade fairs or similar events, sales outlets may be open for five hours on a maximum of two Sundays and public holidays per year, in special exceptional cases three Sundays and public holidays, according to the resolution of the municipal council of the state capital Stuttgart. However, not on Advent Sundays and Christmas holidays, Easter Sunday and Whit Sunday. The state capital Stuttgart determines annually by means of a so-called general decree in which part of the city stores may be opened on which Sundays and public holidays.
