If you have several homes in Germany, you must declare to the registration office which of these homes is your main home.
- if you are married or in a civil partnership and only temporarily living separately from your family or partner: the home primarily used by the family or civil partnership.
- if you are married or in a civil partnership and live apart permanently: Your primary residence
- if you are a minor: the home mainly used by your parents or foster parents. If they live separately, your main residence is the home in which you mainly live.
- Only if the predominantly used home cannot be determined beyond doubt should the focus of the living relationships be taken into account. Indications for this are, for example, the type of home, personal ties, social and local political activities as well as membership in clubs and other organizations.

You enter your data on the platform of the service portal of the state of Baden-Württemberg www.service-bw.de (opens in a new tab).
As a rule, you must set up a personal service account on the service portal to submit your application. This allows you to start, edit, temporarily save, and also submit your application. The Ministry of the Interior of Baden-Württemberg is responsible for processing your data in the service account.
Prerequisites
You have several apartments in Germany.
Procedure
If your living circumstances change and one of your secondary residences becomes your main residence, you must inform the registration authority responsible for the new main residence.
Note: Each time you register or deregister, you must also state which apartments you have in Germany and which of these is your main residence. This applies regardless of whether you change your main residence or not.
