The Möhringen wastewater treatment plant has a capacity of 160,000 population equivalents and treats up to 19,000 cubic meters of wastewater per day from the Stuttgart districts of Vaihingen, Dürrlewang, Rohr and Möhringen as well as Leinfelden-Echterdingen.

With the help of 3 CHP modules, digester gas is converted into electrical energy and heat and serves to supply the sewage treatment plant itself. Together with the photovoltaic system, a total self-sufficiency level of around 70 % can be achieved.
