Own operation of municipal drainage

From water to wastewater and back again - Stadtentwässerung Stuttgart (SES) ensures that the water cycle remains in flow. The wastewater is treated in four Stuttgart wastewater treatment plants. Seven days a week and every day of the year.

The main sewage treatment plant in Mühlhausen is one of four sewage treatment plants that provides wastewater treatment.

Stadtentwässerung Stuttgart has been responsible for clean water in the city and its catchment area since 1995. The company was founded because at that time the necessary extensive investments could not be realized through the city's budget.

Today, Stadtentwässerung is financed exclusively by fees, charges and contributions.

Its central tasks are wastewater drainage and wastewater treatment. A mammoth task: Stuttgart's sewer network is almost 1,700 kilometers long.

Among other things, Stadtentwässerung is responsible for cleaning and inspecting Stuttgart's sewers, stormwater tanks and wastewater pumping stations. Detailed information on the executive bodies and business development can be found in the current  report on shareholdings.
