Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG

Whether by streetcar, bus, cable car or the "Zacke": Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG (SSB) transports its passengers quickly and climate-friendly through Stuttgart and beyond the city limits. The SSB is one of the most modern local transport companies in Germany.

The city of Stuttgart offers its residents and guests one of the densest public transportation networks in Germany.

Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG can look back on a long tradition: local transport began in 1889 with the merger of two horse-drawn streetcar companies. SSB operates 19 light rail lines, around 50 bus connections, a rack railroad and a funicular (as of July 2025). The company offers citizens, visitors and commuters a service from early in the morning until late at night. Today, it is one of the most modern public transport companies in Germany and makes an important contribution to environmentally friendly mobility in everyday life.
