The criteria for the award are primarily the significance of the commitment to a city district, a specific project, a person or a group of people.
The Lord Mayor, the mayors and the district leaders can propose who should be awarded. The decision is made by the Lord Mayor: up to 50 awards can be presented citywide per calendar year, and a maximum of three honorary coins can be presented per city district. As a rule, the honorary coin is presented by the heads of the districts or the mayors on behalf of the Lord Mayor.
The honorary coin recipients of each year are published in the Stuttgart Official Gazette.
Open for suggestions
Do you know someone who does voluntary work for their fellow human beings in Stuttgart, who has not yet received an honor and who would finally deserve to be recognized for their commitment? Every resident of the city has the right to propose someone for the Medal of Honor. Applications must go to the district leader of the borough in which the volunteer is active. The district superintendent then considers the nomination.
Each district can award three honorary coins per calendar year. Surely you also know someone who deserves the small token of thanks!
