Stuttgart Municipal Drainage

Stadtentwässerung Stuttgart (SES) has been proving its worth as a municipal company since 1995. SES is thus a comparatively young company, but at the same time a company with over 125 years of experience whose services have always been in demand.

The main sewage treatment plant in Mühlhausen is one of four sewage treatment plants that provides wastewater treatment.

The "operating area" of Stadtentwässerung Stuttgart covers the city area, the catchment areas of nine neighboring cities as well as Stuttgart Airport and Messe Stuttgart.

The task of urban drainage with around 380 employees in the state capital of Stuttgart is traditionally part of the range of tasks in the civil engineering department. The central areas of responsibility are wastewater drainage and wastewater treatment.

The municipal drainage company (SES) is responsible for the discharge and treatment of wastewater produced in the Stuttgart catchment area. In addition, wastewater from the nine neighboring towns of Ditzingen, Gerlingen, Esslingen, Fellbach, Remseck, Korntal, Kornwestheim, Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Ostfildern as well as Stuttgart Airport and Messe Stuttgart is also treated.

Stadtentwässerung Stuttgart (SES) plans, builds, operates and maintains the sewer system, the rainwater overflow and rainwater retention basins as well as the wastewater pumping stations and sewage treatment plants so that the wastewater can be fed into one of the four sewage treatment plants in the districts of Mühlhausen, Möhringen and Plieningen (in the Ostfildern area) and in Ditzingen and treated there without causing any damage.
