Chinese garden

Travel to China without leaving Stuttgart - that is possible. The Chinese Garden "Qingyin" is located only a few minutes away from the main station. It enchants with Far Eastern flair and at the same time offers a beautiful view of the Stuttgart valley basin.

The Far East in the middle of Stuttgart: The Chinese Garden offers a relaxed walk around the small ponds and the pavilions with the raised roof ends.

The Chinese Garden "Qingyin" is located between the city center and Killesberg - it was not always perfectly situated on a semi-elevated site. It was originally created for the International Horticultural Exhibition (IGA) in 1993 as one of the national gardens in Rosensteinpark. After the end of the exhibition, all the gardens had to be dismantled. However, as the Chinese Garden was a magnet for visitors, a suitable site was sought and found on the half-height site on the corner of Birkenwaldstrasse and Panoramastrasse, where the gem was rebuilt.

The Chinese Garden is more than just a green space with a beautiful view of the Stuttgart basin. In the Far Eastern tradition, it depicts the world in miniature. Its piled-up stones, the pond and the garden plants represent mountains, seas and wild vegetation. The cyclical course of the cosmos is made visible by the changing seasons. And the pavilion in the middle of the complex, whose roof ridges point in all directions, brings everything and everyone together.

"Garden of melody" with philosophical superstructure

The name "Qingyin" - in German "Garden of Melody" - is based on a Chinese poem. It states: Not only musical instruments produce beautiful melodies, but also mountains and water. The small waterfall in the "Garden of Beautiful Melody" confirms this assumption with a splashing sound.

If you like, you can spend hours in the Chinese Garden Stuttgart searching for hidden and open symbols. Or you can enjoy this oasis of tranquility without any philosophical superstructure and just let it take effect on you. The garden is run by the Verschönerungsverein Stuttgart e.V..
