Natural History Museum

Here, everything revolves around life on earth: The State Museum of Natural History in Stuttgart is spread over two buildings in Rosenstein Park and illustrates the development of life on our planet.

The Museum am Löwentor in Rosenstein Park presents famous fossil finds from prehistoric times that were found in southwestern Germany.

In the Museum am Löwentor, visitors travel back to prehistoric times. Discoverers young and old can admire fossils and marvel at the replicas of animals and plants that lived on earth millions of years ago. The collection also includes an amber cabinet and the "Steinheim Skull," which at 300,000 years old is one of the oldest fossil human finds in Central Europe.

The journey through time continues in the Museum  Schloss Rosenstein. Here, visitors have arrived back in our own time and learn all about evolution, the diversity of life and the most varied habitats on earth.

The Stuttgart Natural History Museum houses 12 million collection objects in its two exhibition buildings, making it one of the largest natural history museums in Germany. Events for different target groups are offered on a regular basis. In addition to the special and permanent exhibitions at the two locations, the museum also offers virtual tours and a science blog on its website.
