StadtPalais - Museum for Stuttgart

Anyone interested in what makes Stuttgart tick should visit the StadtPalais. Here you will find concentrated city history staged in a modern way. At the same time, the StadtPalais is more than just a museum: it is a concert stage, science center, dance floor and much more.

The Stadtmuseum is a palace located in Stuttgart-Mitte. In 2018 it was reopened after several years of reconstruction.

This is where Stuttgart's history is told, the urban present is lived and the future of the state capital is discussed. The StadtPalais permanent exhibition, for example, presents highlights of Stuttgart's city history from the 18th century to the present. Anyone who wants to know what makes Stuttgart Stuttgart is in the right place here.

In addition to the permanent exhibition, the StadtPalais regularly devotes itself to special topics and presents these in the temporary exhibition on the second floor. In the basement there is a children's construction site where the little ones can become city planners and builders themselves.

The StadtPalais building itself looks back on an eventful history: two princesses and a king once called the building home. Under the National Socialists, it degenerated into an instrument for Nazi propaganda. After it was badly damaged in an air raid in 1944, the city rebuilt it as a municipal library in 1962. Since 2018, the StadtPalais has been telling these stories and many other exciting events as a "Museum for Stuttgart".
