Tariffs in the VVS 2020: Municipal council reaffirms desire for zero increase

The city council of the state capital Stuttgart wants the VVS fares to remain unchanged in the coming year. The administrative committee passed a resolution with a broad majority on Thursday, November 20, which had been introduced by Lord Mayor Fritz Kuhn.

The resolution reads: “The municipal council confirms the plan to decide on a zero increase for the VVS for the year 2020. The annual costs for the state capital Stuttgart amount to 2.84 million euros in the next five years and then permanently to 3.1 million euros. If the zero round fails, the city council intends to budget the 2.84 million euros for tariff measures, which the state capital alone can decide.”

The decision on tariffs will be made by the VVS supervisory board on December 3. This requires the agreement of all parties involved (city, state and districts).
