A Progressive Web App (PWA) is a symbiosis of a website and an app. The PWA enables the mobile use of a website without the installation of an app on end devices.
The PWA stuttgart.de is free of charge and is available for various operating systems, browsers and end devices. On smartphones, tablets and desktops, the web app can be easily placed as an icon on the home screen and used like a classic app.
All information and services of the city of Stuttgart are thus quickly accessible. The Stuttgart app does not work offline.
And so it goes
Call up stuttgart.de via a browser. Then add the web page to your home screen. Click on the stuttgart.de icon and the web app opens.
Install the PWA on mobile devices:
- Chrome, Firefox (Android): Activate "Add to home screen" in the menu (three dots, top right) and click on "Add". The stuttgart.de icon can then be found on the home screen.
- Safari (iOS): In the "Share" menu (icon with arrow at bottom center), first click on "To home screen" and then on "Add". The stuttgart.de icon can then be found on the home screen.
Install the PWA on the desktop:
- Desktop PC: In browsers such as Chrome, Edge or Safari, click the plus symbol on the right side of the address bar. Confirm in the dialog box, "Website installed as an app". The stuttgart.de icon is then visible in the Programs overview.
