Culture international

The Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (ifa) organizes international cultural exchange within the framework of the Federal Republic's foreign cultural policy and participates in Stuttgart working groups on interculture. The ifa Gallery continuously shows current exhibitions with international artists and presents art exhibitions on focal points of the German art scene abroad.

As an umbrella organization of migrant cultural associations and intercultural institutions, Forum der Kulturen e.V. promotes intercultural dialogue, cultural diversity and equal participation of migrants and their descendants in social and cultural life. The association offers advice and qualification and also sees itself as a networker, lobbyist and organizer of intercultural activities. The monthly program magazine "Begegnung der Kulturen - Interkultur in Stuttgart" is an important contribution to intercultural discourse. The annual  SommerFestival der Kulturen (Summer Festival of Cultures (opens in a new tab) ) held on Stuttgart's market square is a popular highlight in the state capital's  festival calendar .

The Deutsch-Türkisches Forum Stuttgart e.V. (DTF) was founded as a citizens' initiative to promote cultural encounters and cooperation between Germans and Turks living in Germany. With a diverse educational and cultural program, the DTF makes an independent contribution to the social integration of Turkish immigrants. Civic engagement, equal opportunities and culture play just as important a role as participation in socio-political dialogue. Among other things, the DTF organizes the German-Turkish Cabaret Week and, together with the  Children's Office of the City of Stuttgart and under the patronage of Lord Mayor Fritz Kuhn, the  Stuttgart Children's Festival (opens in a new tab) on Stuttgart's market square.

Getting to know the USA is also possible in Stuttgart. Under the motto "Get a taste of the U.S.," the German-American Center (DAZ) welcomes everyone interested in the "Land of Unlimited Possibilities. As the first point of contact on the topic of the U.S., the DAZ facilitates encounters, networking and events in the German-American context. The spectrum of intercultural exchange ranges from current topics to educational work in schools to a diverse cultural and language program. As part of the EducationUSA network, the DAZ is also a point of contact for teenagers and young adults interested in a stay abroad in America.

The Institut français is committed to the French language, education, art and culture worldwide and promotes intercultural exchange through projects, courses and events. The Institut français Stuttgart is an important partner in the cultural sector of the state capital and cooperates with actors and cultural institutions in the city and region of Stuttgart. The media library offers a collection of over 7,000 media in French, including books, audio books and DVDs. There is also an exchange program between the Rhône-Alpes and Alsace regions and the state of Baden-Württemberg. And as an examination center for internationally recognized diplomas such as DELF and DALF, the Institut français Stuttgart is an important contact point for language certificates.

The Italian Cultural Institute Stuttgart promotes the Italian language, education, art and culture in Germany. Language courses provide access to Italian as does the existing library, which aims to whet the appetite for Italy, its language and culture with numerous different media.

In cultural projects, the Institute cooperates with many cultural actors in Stuttgart and the region and participates actively and regularly in cultural festivals in the city.

The Hungarian Cultural Institute in Stuttgart is a place of cultural encounter and dialogue. The institute offers a multifaceted selection of exhibitions, literary and musical events, as well as German-language, scientific lectures on exciting topics from Hungarian-German cultural history. Another focus is on language instruction.

Since its opening in 1990, Akademie Schloss Solitude has sponsored nearly 1,500 fellows and built a far-reaching network of art and science. The Akademie's international artist-in-residence program offers artists from all over the world an interdisciplinary living and working fellowship. Young talent from the humanities, natural sciences and business can also apply for fellowships under the "art, sicence & business" program. An in-depth exploration of digital culture takes place in the context of the fellowship program "Digital Solitude," among others.
