In complex cases, residents can turn to the  Migration Office. The Migration Office is a specialist advice center for employees of the authorities and the social services of independent organizations in Stuttgart. Around 90,000 Stuttgart residents with foreign roots have been living in Germany for so long that they could obtain German citizenship. Many are not even aware of this possibility. Others shy away from the effort involved or do not know what advantages it would bring them.

The "PASS up, get naturalized!" campaign explains this. Until 2019, the Lord Mayor has invited people to the town hall to apply for naturalization.

The International Committee advises the Stuttgart City Council as a body of experts in all fields of integration policy: language promotion, education and sports, urban development, coexistence and security, social affairs, youth and health, professional qualifications, the labor market and the economy, as well as culture and interreligious dialogue.

The committee consists of 15 city councilors and 14 citizens who work as expert members on an honorary basis. The  public meetings of (opens in a new tab) the International Committee take place on Wednesdays in the City Hall.

The topic of integration affects all city districts in Stuttgart. That is why volunteer citizens work in each of the 23 district advisory councils as expert members for integration and migration. The district advisory councils advise the city council on all decisions that affect their own district.

The "Partnership for Democracy" has been in existence since 2017. Together, citizens, politics, administration, associations and other institutions are committed to an open, diverse and peaceful Stuttgart with discussion rounds, exhibitions, readings and many other formats. Twice a year, the actors meet for democracy conferences to discuss the status, goals and direction of further work.

Around March 21, the UN Day of Remembrance against Racism, cities around the world set an example against exclusion. Stuttgart takes part with lectures, workshops, exhibitions, readings, concerts and other events. The state capital Stuttgart is one of the founding members of the "Action Weeks against Racism".

This offer is explicitly aimed at children and young people in preparatory classes. Newly immigrated pupils learn what democracy and society mean in their city. Hallo Demokratie!" cooperates closely with schools, youth centers, cultural institutions and district centers.

For a long time, democracy education in schools did not focus on newly immigrated pupils. "Hallo Demokratie!" would like to help change this in a positive way.
